Canines in Conservation

Wildlife detection dogs have been known to be very important for locating a variety of wildlife species, including box turtles! Our team is one of the first to use wildlife detection dogs to locate Eastern box turtles in South Carolina. Clemson Undergraduate student Madaline (Maddie) Stephens and her dog Theia have been performing surveys for the past couple of weeks and have already found two new turtles (pictured below)! We are lucky to have Maddie and Theia on the Clemson Turtle Team!
